This modern technique class is a class working towards a grounded and direct approach to movement, infused with somatic principles and experiential improvisations. Class work explores sensation, instinct, and the inherent musical phrasing inside the body as well as the opportunity to learn basic movement patterns and simple phrase work.
These classes are for intermediate to advanced dancers who are proficient in classical ballet technique. Students will learn how to express a wide range of emotions through their dance based on musical interpretation, tempo changes, and creating sharp and clean transitions.
Jazz emphasizes balance, flexibility, coordination, strength and creative expression. Turns, leaps, and combinations will be taught. A wide range of contemporary, as well as music from other eras is used.
Students learn more tap-rhythms, sounds, and combinations. Students will demonstrate the ability to build speed while keeping the clarity of their taps clean. Add all this to more complicated combinations and intricate dance routines, and this becomes a fun and challenging class.
OUR CLASS OFFERINGS:
Movement classes that explore rhythm, song, body awareness, locomotor skills, and creative expression. Exercises are geared to the developmental needs of preschoolers, and pre-kintergardeners. Children must be potty-trained, and able to be independent from their parent for the class.
Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
Students will begin by learning hip hop fundamentals. Students will be exposed to multiple styles of hip hop dance, allowing students to discover their own hip hop style in a stress-free and fun environment, encouraging confidence building.
Foundational yoga postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement.
A style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision tumbling elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and tumbling, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context.
